Mosaic Construction with StarAlignment

By Juan Conejero (PTeam)
With raw CCD images acquired by Nikolay Volkov / Vicent Peris (OAUV/CAHA/PTeam) / Calar Alto Observatory

This tutorial explores the mosaic building capabilities of the StarAlignment tool in PixInsight. In the first video we build a four-frame mosaic of the California nebula to describe the basic mosaic generation functionality of StarAlignment. In the second video you'll learn how to fix the seams between mosaic frames with a linear correction function that we implement as an iterative procedure using automatically generated masks and the PixelMath tool. In the third part (in preparation), we'll teach you how to build mosaics in difficult cases, with minimal overlapping between frames, as well as how to use advanced StarAlignment parameters to improve the performance and accuracy of your image registration tasks.
